Ok my Sony STR-KSL40 (old i know) has finally had its day, the optical jack on the back is knackered.

My set-up is my PC using optical straight to a home Theater system, so im looking for a package without all the dvd stuff, just the Amp and speakers etc.

What id like is a 2.1 or 5.1 system (all depends on which will offer better sound quality for the best price) within the region of £100-170, its gotta have good sound quality and be fairly powerful (old one is 250w), ive noticed that the market seems to be dying for the non dvd theater systems and the only 2 i can find that are cheep, good and have optical inputs are

im aware that they are dvd units :P but its hard trying to find a normal one.

Now, I know nothing about this sort of thing, but somebody mentioned to me Argos were selling LG and other units cheaply a while back (if I find something I like or similar on their site, I usually Google it then to try and get it even cheaper ;) )...

il look into that ^^

through a miracle i managed to fix the bugger, it has 2 optical ports, 1 had a pin broken off and was beyond repair, the other had the pins loose and just needed re soldering, so after a few goes i managed to re solder it, and it works!

saved myself a good chunk of cash but im still interested to hear the options as i dunno how long it will last and what i can do when i need to upgrade
