With my new laptop, I've figured I'll buy a new headset to listen to music with, watch blu-ray films etc. But no idea about what to go for. I also may well end up using it for gaming if I get into PC gaming. On top of this, I'd love to be able to use it with the TV.
Soooooo....recommendations? Looking at circa £100. If from ebuyer, I get free next day delivery.

As per every thread of this nature, I strongly recommend the Sennheiser HD555s; really good sound, very robust (mine have been battered for 6-7 years and are only just starting to go). Currently on Amazon (so free delivery as well) for £90.

Don't know enough about them yet (what machines they'll work with etc), but I'm tempted already by these for the PS3 at least: http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/so ... set-960419

I won a pair of Sharkoon X-tatics a while back clicky. They work with PC, Xbox and PS3. There's an optical cable which was the easiest setup TBH. They were the comfiest things I've ever worn on my head. I ended up selling them as I just don't need them that often but they were a cracking pair. So to speak.

I bought some Sennheiser PC161's a couple of years back primarily for PC gaming as a) I didn't want to spend more than £50 and b) they have a built in mic that can be moved out of the way when not needed so I can also use them for music/movies on the PC. They're bloody brilliant. Because of that I wouldn't bat an eyelid buying another pair of Sennheisers. I'd agree with the HD555 recommendation too as they come highly rated but if you need a built in mic and/or surround sound for gaming there are some other options: http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/home_en. ... e_headsets

Something that is now fairly well documented with the HD555s is that you can open them up, remove a piece of foam from behind the driver and you basically get a free upgrade to a pair of HD595s. You may want to wait until the warranty has expired for them mind .

Me too. I bought a brand new Q6600 when they came out an immediately too some superfine sandpaper (wet) to it for a bit of lapping. Arse clenching aplenty.
