HD freeview? I didnt know there was HD freeview content? Or do you mean upscaling?
Anyway, I have the BT Vision box (free with their BB package) which has all the freview, plus top up capability like Setanta, plus streaming content (IPTV) including a video rental 'store' and HD stuff and PVR. I've got it setup to upscale over HDMI and sound is digital via the optical connection. Its a pretty good box tbh.

The only way to get HD services through "Freeview" is to get a "Freesat" box.

What 'e said. I think there are plans to shift HD to Freeview, but it's not going to be soon, and it won't be compatible with what's available now. Of course, if they removed all the crud (all the channels that need a subscription, for starters) and freed up bandwidth, it would be so much sooner. </grump>

As long as Dave, UK History, BBC Parliament and Virgin 1 stay then I don't mind.

I'll add BBC4, More4 and FilmFour, if I may.

Perhaps you should give us some more information. What's your budget, what sort of size hard drive are you looking for? Are there any other must have features for you?

HD is for High-Definition, not Hard Drive.

In the end I have picked up a freeview box that upscales to 1080i over HDMI.
It will do for now.
Cheers.

Yes, I know. HDD is an abbreviation of hard drive You would just struggle to find a Freesat box without hard drive/PVR capabilities. I personally, have never seen one (although I can't say I've looked very hard),

I have Sky Plus, so I have four aerial doodahs coming off my dish. Does that mean I could just buy a Freesat box and plug it into one of my two spare doodahs?

If you have 2 spare connection on your LNB (that aren't going into sky boxes) then yes you can.
