So got up outta bed, had breakfast whilst watching the Big Bang Theory on the PS3 (via USB). No problems. Switched off PS3, did some other stuff and came back on to PS3 to play COD. The screen had a weird effect - there were multiple images horizontally, like a poorly tuned TV. Except this is an LCD TV connected via HDMI to the PS3.
Yeah pretty much. Just turned it off and back on again. No need to resort to the power switch on the back of the unit or anything. Just concerned about which (if either) is on its way out.
Is that a picture from the PS3 browser then? It's better than nothing, but still a POS... I've had it lock up the whole system, even the pad, and being a slim model, had to pull the plug altogether

I suspect switching the TV off and on would have fixed it too, or even just flipping to another source and then back. TV was confused switching display modes; nothing to do with the PS3. Rebooting the PS3 just forced the TV to rethink when it lost sync.
Don't worry about unless it happens a lot, and even then I'm sure you'll find an easy work-around.
