To test which eye you use for seeing do the following...

With both eyes open, find a vertical line (edge of a brick wall or something) and hold your finger up to it.

Now shut your left eye. If your finger has moved off the line then you are left eyed, if not, you are right eyed.

I did this and found if I close my left eye, the finger is to the left of the line and if I close my right eye, the finger is to the right of the line. Each time, my finger is the same distance from the line.

What does that make me? L or R?

It is possible to not be biased towards either eye. Most people have some bias to one eye.

You got lucky it seems :D

Possibly a more substantial test for you CW is to cut a hole in a piece of paper and focus on a stationary object through the hole.

Then slowly bring the paper closer to your face keeping the object in the centre of the hole.

Which eye does the hole go towards?

The hole-method-thingy is how we do it when selecting bows for novice archers, but we just get them to make a window using their hands.

Okay, given work was a bit slack today I had a few more attempts at the finger-line thing and noticed my finger was farther away from the line with my left eye closed (ie left-eyed). But I came home and did it and now I seem to be right-eyed.

Did it again with the paperhole thing and I'm right eyed some of the time and left eyed for some of the time too.

I honestly feel I use my right eye more when looking at things.

EDIT: I've come to the realisation I keep 'flipping' eyes - using one one moment and the other the next.

I would be right eyed by the methods stated above, and use my right eye for photography and astronomy. However I did use my left eye at Uni when using a microscope as I would be using my right eye and hand for simultaneously drawing cells etc.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

That's quite cool.

In a way you could almost trace over what you can see with your left eye onto the paper you can see with your right eye as you would see an overlaid image of both of them :D
