Okay, we've got a hints'n'tips sub forum, and there's a sticky post in there full of useful links. That's great, and treat this as a reminder it's there and I'd like more useful links please. The thing is, do we want to do something a bit more constructive with this section of x404, or are we happy to just compare lenses and argue the toss over different camera makers? I'm thinking we could start a Digital Photography 101 or something. Or perhaps talk about different filters and their uses? Help to explain the magic triangle of ISO/shutter speed/aperture? Choosing software to edit images? Whaddya think?

Perhaps it's just me, but wouldn't the photo comp sit better in here. After all, if you're interested enough in photography to enter, you're probably interested enough to read the posts in here. Just a thought.

We did consider that when we set up this forum.
I still think it's better in the main Meeting Place. That way it will encourage people to have a go, even if they think they're not interested in photography or have a great camera, or whatever. If it was moved here, it might seem more cliquey than the original version was intended to be.

How about carting post-processing off into a sub-forum? I know it's something I need to work on, but is rather different from the actual taking of the piccies.

Well, it's not really. I'm just a mod. If enough people think it should move here, then move it shall. The power of democracy. x404 - we made it. (I'll shut up now. )

I thought it would be a chance for those interested in photography to learn more or share their experiences with others interested in the craft. However, if there are fears that a clique would develop - or even the appearance of a clique - then of course, such a radical move should not be taken. I know the Meeting Place regulars don't like it when the furniture is rearranged, so it's probably best not to upset them.

I'm up for it Ms K My post processing is adequate for hairyplanes but everything else sucks. An on-line tutorials sticky request thread would also be nice - I just can't seem to find the good ones Al
