I downloaded iOS4.1 last night and with it came HDR photography on the iPhone.

I was a bit sceptical but it actually works really well!

It saves 2 copies of each image, one is the normal version, one is the HDR version but it isn't too surreal like some HDR can be, it just balances the image properly.

It actually looks more like looking at the real thing than a regular photo. It's quite odd but nice.

HDR definitely looks better. But, does it blur when photographing moving subjects???

Was annoyed to see they'd limited it to the 4 only, but Pro HDR does the same job.

It does it from a single photo so no, it doesn't blur.

I'll have some decent pics at the weekend.

Ah cool - I don't know why but I thought it took two photos and "blended" them. :)

I was under the impression that to get "true" HDR, you needed at least three images, one exposed "normally" then one taken +/- one stop. Isn't this app just applying pre-set filters to a picture?

Yes but you can fake it with one picture. It's obviously not the same though and works better with a RAW than a JPEG.

OK, I have so samples.

There's not a lot of variety but it shows when and where it does and doesn't work.

Also, it looks like it takes multiple samples of the picture in quick succession as things moving quickly (i.e. the guy running in the linked photo) are broken up in the HDR version.
