This is something I hadn't really considered before; super high pixel count in APS-C sized sensor cameras. Also, in a move away from current industry trends, Sigma has switched the storage medium of this camera to Compact Flash from the SD type cards used previously. No mention of price yet, or the ISO capabilities of the camera, but this is looking like a winner of a camera if the price is reasonable. DPreview preview Mark |

I really like it. When compared to conventional sensors you could say it's 15mp as it produces 4800x3200 images put each of those pixels captures a seperate R, G and B value (dont quote me, I think that's how it works) hence the 45-or-whatever-it-is megapixel. I'm interested to see how it performs in tests. I did hear it will be around 7D money but without extras like HD video I guess it's going to have to do something special stills wise. |

There's a very rough price of around £1,800-2,000 in the UK for the SD1. Mark |

Isn't that more than 5D body money? (or whatever the inferior Nikon model is) It's going to have to be good at that price! |

Canon 5D MkII (body only) … £1674 Nikon D700 (body only) … £1763 In terms of megapixels the Sony A900 comes closest (for a 35mm DSLR) at a body only cost of £1799. So yes, the SD1 would have to be something spectacular to be commanding a £2k price tag (if that is indeed what it ends up retailing at). Mark |

Would you mind letting us know which Nikon model you're referring to, and why you believe it to be inferior? </Not biting, just askin'> |
