Nice work!
It's events like this that I found really test the limits of your kit. I imagine you were relieved to be sporting that lovely ISO range, no?

Very impressive.
I especially liked the moody lighting and the shots of the smoke in the light.

So, what kit were you using for the benefit of those who don't have the inside knowledge?

Thanks! Indeed - most were at 3200 but I used 1600 and 6400 too. I removed the polariser that's otherwise permanently attached to my 300m lens which gave me an extra stop, and the IS gave me two more, which was a big help.

Camera was a Canon EOS 5D MkII, with Canon 300mm f/4 L IS (for the shots of Lára Rúnars), and Sigma 105mm EX-DG Macro (for the rest). The lighting was very atmospheric, and the smoke certainly helped.

Nei, ég tala ekki dönsku eða norsku, en ég tala bara litla íslensku. En "I love you" á íslensku er "ég elska þig", ekki "tig".

Islenskt orðið fyrir "no" er líka "nei".

 all that looks icelandic and im trying to convert it into norweigan  I think you said something like "I speak just a little icelandic, and then you are correcting my spelling/grammar on the "I love you" phrase and líka? not sure what that is but simialr to norweigans "liker" which is like (who could've guessed :P ) and "taller" is "speak" in danish  ekki maybe "ikke/ikkje" which means "I dont"/cant etc :( wow im gonna stop this is tying my brain in a knot

Translation (you did a good job though!):

No, I don't speak Danish or Norwegian, but I speak a little Icelandic. But "I love you" in Icelandic is "ég elska þig", not "tig".
The Icelandic word for 'no' is also 'nei'.

Incidentally, þ is pronounced 'th' as in 'thing' and ð is not an accented 'o' as many people think, but 'th' as in 'the' (it's a cursive 'd' with a line through it).

Post subject:  Re: First attempt at gig photography

thats awesome ;) Im sure you are aware of the "fjanndin" icelandic word I assume

oh and also that ég elska þig that you said is extremly close to the norweigan word for the same "jeg elsker deg" or swedish "jag alskar dig"

if you like icelandic stuff you should visit the north of Scotland in Shetland islands, their islands motto is in icelandic "meo logum skal land byggja" which if I translated to norweigan I could understand it "med loven skal land bygger" basically "with land shall land be built"

That would be "með logun skal land byggja" as, like I said,
