Imagining I have the choice between a F5 or a FM 10. which one do I go for?

I would say the F5. It's a pro body, so it'll be well built and should still be up to the job - the drawbacks are that it's a pro body, so it'll also weight a lot more than the FM10.
I quite want one, in fact.

Depends on what sort of pictures you think you're likely to be taking - is it something to carry on a semi-casual basis, or something you'll be doing more focussed/series type work with?

It's for architectural/outdoor pictures mostly. In london, I reckon the FM10 would be easier to lug around without being branded a terrorgrapher :S

Looking at dates, I believe it's an FM2 and not a FM10. my bad

The Canon?

Sorry I'll stop baiting the swaying egg.

For me it would be the F5. I also just read this...

The FM10 is not actually manufactured by Nikon Corporation, and is not a true member of the Nikon compact F-series SLRs, as the name implies. It is manufactured by Cosina in Japan

Ooh the FM2 looks like it's nicely put together as well. I'd be tempted by the FM2 in that case. I think you'd get bored lugging an F5 everywhere, as well built as it is, and you'll probably be more discreet with a smaller body.
Any chance of you handling them and seeing what feels best?

They are my dads, he has gone compact so they haven't been used for many many years.
the FM2 is brilliant, it has been used everywhere. It's really good in very cold climates :)

If they are your dad's, why not take them both out for a spin and see which you prefer?

Depending on what lenses there are (if it's an auto focus camera) I might take it off your hands

Can you write down the camera model and the lens info please :) I'll hopefully be able to find out if it's a compatible lens from the camera/lens info
