Where do people get theirs from? I'm after a 50mm lens for my a450, either prime or macro, and I'd rather not buy from ebay (I'm getting outbid a lot) Ideally after a site that specialises in minolta glass or one with a good range

Tricky. I haunt eBay quite a bit for second hand stuff - I'd rather buy new for the DSLR but that's not really an option for my 35mm bodies. So, I'm somewhat resigned to spending what the market dictates. For a 50mm Minolta AF lens, that would appear to be around the £100 mark, sadly. Then again, it'd probably be worth browsing some of the photo mags for dealers. My local second hand dealer is www.mifsuds.com - although given their attitude and service anytime I've visited them, I'm loathe to recommend them!

That's the thing, they fluctuate between £60 and £100, all the ones I bid on go for >£90 Started looking at some walkabout lenses instead, bidding on a 24-135 one atm and got an eye on a 24-105 should that one fall through, both highly rated (and zoom lenses seem to go for a LOT less than they should on ebay, I picked up my minolta 75-300 zoom lens for £50, it should be going for £70+)

Ended up winning the 24-105 Minolta lens (was £15 less than the tamron lens and had caps etc) for a bit more than I would have liked, but given condition + accessories I can live with it, got it to replace my stock 18-55 as a walkabout lens, need to keep an eye out for a prime lens though I think for portrait photography

Shame you clearly have nothing to add or any real value with a story about yourself that failed to answer my question, add any insight or even a positive view. But we all know you are selling your lens.

Cheers, the Rokkor won't fit though, it's a different mount (for the manual focus only, not autofocus cameras)

I thought it might be but was hoping the 2nd one might fit the bill (although still £90 as you said you were finding they tend to go for on eBay)

I've only ever bought two lenses second hand. One was from a mate, the other was from eBay. The eBay lens was a bloody bargain and works just as it should. Excellent condition with no problems or issues that raise my concerns about it al all.
Mark
EDIT - just to add, it was a business eBay seller that I got the lens from, not a private individual. It came very well protected in the post too.
