Ok so it's just a mix of rumour and reading between the lines but there's plently of big money knocked off the RRP of several cameras at Warehouse Express right now. You can see savings on the Canon 7D, 5D MkII and Nikon D300s as well as some other models. Could this then be paving the way for the release of a 6D? 5D MkIII? Maybe a D800 to replace the FX format D700? http://www.photoradar.com/news/story/to ... for-2011-0

A 6D or even a 5D MkII would be lovely, but right now, I’m not looking to change. It would be a significant update for my 40D, which would also require lens replacements (A few EFS lenses would need to be swapped for EF equivalents).

I'm hoping the 7D dips below £1000 soon. Best prices for the body only are currently Amazon and Dixons. Not quite got enough pennies in place to afford it, though.

That’s all of us, I think. I’d need a serous windfall to consider that kind of upgrade. I seem to be doing fine with what I have, so I’ll stick with it. No point in doing an upgrade unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Aside from a specific lens that I'm waiting to be released, the only other possible upgrade I would consider is going to the Nikon D3x, but I'm still very pleased with what my D3 produces so there's no need to upgrade the camera.

Or it's an absolute bargain, only available for a limited time.

True, but I've been angling to upgrade now for at least two years. I don't rush into these things. We've been selling some hobby stuff that's not going to be used any more. There is some extra funds accruing in the bank account, so perhaps I may get my new camera sooner than I think.

Would you swap awsome ISO performance for MEGA mega-pixels then?

Are you going to get a really good camera or stick with Canon? I know, very childish. I have to amuse myself.

I don't want to hear about the Canon 5D Mark III. I'm still paying off last year's Iceland holiday as it is. Don't need more debt!

No, because I'm still totally happy with what the D3 can do. In more than 3 years owning it I've only ever used the super ISO range once through sheer need. Mark

For the record, I made a decision to go Canon back when Canon was the only manufacturer with a clear-cut path to full-frameness. I haven't regretted my choice. Besides, it's not what you've got. It's how you use it.

No, and it looks like I won't be with my next camera either. However, that was a deciding factor at the time I made my decision.

And a student owning a 5D Mk II would be completely ridiculous! (8-p)
