£4,799 from Warehouse Express. That's a bloody lot of money.

It's a lot of camera though. The Canon 1Dx is about £500 more.

Gah! I read about the D4 this morning and was going to post this!

If I had the spare cash and knew the camera would be put to use, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Too rich for me, either of 'em.

What worries me - no, sorry, annoys me - is the inevitable rise in noise from the fanbois on both sides crowing over vital statistics. Like it really matters. Pros are going to buy whichever system fits either their budgets or their existing kit. Techno-jewellery junkies will buy one to hang round their necks left in Idiot Mode to snap JPEGs.

And so the world goes round. ;)

You would probably be able to get one in Singapore for around £3000. Still a lot of money but not quite as painful. Trouble is although Nikon lenses have international warranty, the bodies don't.

It is. No denying that, but for this camera I expected to see the sensor of the D3x. I guess that'll now happen in the D4x which'll be some time in 2013 I guess.

Mine's only got 12 and I'm more than happy to keep hold of it for the foreseeable future.

Both Canon and Nikon seem to be favouring low noise performance and burst shooting speed at the expense of resolution. It's not like 16 or 18MP is going to give you a small/poorly scaling image anyway.

When I heard that there was a new wi-fi module I did wonder. (8+)
Nice post, man.

Quite right too. The more pixels you cram on to a sensor - even a full-frame sensor - the more noise you'll introduce to the image captured.
High ISO and greater noise reduction for those ISO settings should be the way to go, and judging by the ISO on the D4, Nikon seems to be thinking along the same lines.

Unless you're doing properly scary stuff, nobody needs more than around 14Mp.

More ISO and less noise please.
