| Post subject: | Shooting with film |
With my DSLR I normally shoot in aperture priority unless I have time to set up a photo and keep trying. What would you recommend with film? I'm guessing I should stick with what I know and keep using aperture priority unless I'm going for anything funky with long exposure type stuff? |

I tend to stick with aperture priority. Sometimes I'll go onto fully manual, but for the most part it's on A. |

There isn't really any difference between film and digital when it comes to exposure. The biggest difference is that with digital you can change the ISO on the fly, whereas with film you're stuck with the film's rating (push processing notwithstanding). But 1/200 at f/4 is 1/200 at f/4 on both. |

Thing is with digital, if i get it wrong i can change it and shoot again. |

That's the great thing about film - it makes you think about the shot before you press. For what it's worth, I usually keep my camera on aperture priority as well. |

Aperture Priority for me, too. I do switch to Manual when I have the time to think about it, but when out snapping for fun I let the camera do some of the thinking for me. |

Shutter priority for me but there again I do shoot fast moving aircraft. I recently had a dabble with manual and used both aperture priority and shutter priority modes to 'check' the settings. I also normally shoot +1/3rd Ev and haul it back in post processing but with film that's not really an option. Go with what your comfortable with or use your DSLR to check results before you use film  Al |

My film camera doesn't give me the choice. It doesn't even have a light meter, I've got a separate light meter attached to the strap. Israeli security forces were very suspicious of it when I went to Jerusalem. |
