Digital Photography School, probably not the first to know but it's all the news I get, have told that Sony have announced their first full-frame DSLR.

The Sony A850, and it looks good, too. It's encouraging to see another manufacturer taking the game to Cankon/Niknon.

Digital Photography School need to double check that - it's not their first full-frame body.
The A900 has been around since last year, and that's got 24 MPs on a full frame sensor. ;)

Heh! It could also be my quick skim of the page.

Thanks for correcting that, Alex. ;)

Since they're what became of Minolta, I was looking at them a bit last year. I think the A900 is pretty good value for money, but as ever, what's the glass like?

The top of the range Nikon D3x 'borrows' the 24.5mp sensor from the Sony (its not the same if you believe Nikon, simply manufactured in Sony's factory). There's still a big difference in the performance of the cameras though with the D3x higher rated.

My sister was all Minolta until Sony took over. She sold all her Minolta kit (and she had a lot, and takes it all very seriously) and went over to Nikon. The after sales service from Sony is apparently very poor in comparison with what Minolta used to do, and much more expensive.
