That price is way too good to be true.

Has anyone come across DigitalLand before? They've only been going since last year.

Actually, a bit more digging and I've come to the conclusion that it's too good to be true, and a lengthy bargepole won't come near them. Caveat emptor.

Pay by credit card then claim it back if it all goes wrong. (8+)

Quite probably. As you can imagine, I wasn't actually looking for one.

Apparently, Dale Photographic have the current best legitimate prices, with Warehouse Express not far behind.

Makes me wish I had some money lying about doing nothing.

That 'site is only £90 cheaper for the D3s and £30 more expensive for the D3x (both compared to Warehouse Express prices), so I suspect something went awry with the pricing of the Canon that you linked to Heather.

What’s the benefit of a 7D over the 50D? Canon’s numbering system confuses me - the 7D should, by logic, be better than the 5D.

with the xD series, the lower the number the better (in the same way xxD > xxxD > xxxxD). However, when a new version is introduced in these high-end series, the x remains constant, and it simply becomes, for example 5D MkII, or 1D MkIV.

The xxD series has gradually been dropping in price, and I believe it'll phased out, leaving the path xxxxD -> xxxD -> 7D(speed) or 5D (full frame) -> 1D(speed) or 1Ds (full frame).

Right. So then, clear as mud, I'd say.
That's not a comment on your explanation Edd, as it does make sense, but it takes some thinking about to get to that sense.
Nikon's structure isn't any better at the moment.

Aye, I know. It's fairly simple once you know it. I think a diagram will be made tonight for everytime this question comes up. At least I understand Canon's lenses! Nikon's confuse me!

I can't work out (not that I've tried too hard since I purchased my camera) what the various letters mean and which lenses fit on which bodies. Canon a lens is either EF (any body) or EF-S (small-sensor only) mount, L signifies it's a pro-level lens (not that pros don't and shouldn't use non-L lenses, but they're the real good 'uns!), and IS denotes the lens being fitted with Image Stabilisation (VR in Nikon parlance)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikon_F-mount

The f-mount has been going since the 60's, so its hardly surprising the numbering has gone a little wayward. The Canon EF mount started in 1987 and hasn't had as long to go wrong.

Digitalland are owned by JF Global Trading which is a Hong Kong based outfit, so you can probably guess where the stuff comes from.
