Hi all, I've got a question regarding AF on my Nikon D70. Firstly, I don't have the instructions for the camera so I'm learning as I go along. Basically, when you press the shutter release halfway down the camera does its AF thing, what I want to know does my camera have a setting which maintains focus without me having to release the button and half press again. Is it called 'servo focus' or something like that? Thanks in advance peeps.

There may be a focus lock button on the lens. OR there may be a focus button - you out the camera/lens on manual focus and press the button to focus. |

Hmm, so there's no "continuous focus" setting Paul? Let's say I pointed the camera at an object that was moving towards me and half pressed the button, is there no setting on the camera that'll maintain that AF as it moves towards or away? I heard someone mentioning in passing the other day and I though "Hmm, I wonder if my camera has that setting". |

Found it.  AF-C (continuous) instead of AF-S (single).

My D90 has three AF settings. AF-S - Single focus, useful for something that isn't moving. AF-C - Continuous focus, for something that is moving. AF-A - Something I haven't used yet. Possibly average. It's late, I'm tired, I've had a drink. All of the above may be incorrect or otherwise. |

It's called AI-Servo on the other brand and there's no way of applying continuous focus without holding the shutter button down halfway. D70 manual can be downloaded via here Al |
