Didn't see the D3 either but as the D3s makes an appearance I'm guessing that the whole family is represented fairly well there.

I figured they used the D3s rather than the vanilla D3 as its newer, on sale and largely an update of its predecessor. I'm suprised at the D3x ommision due to it being the 'flagship' Nikon model.

The D3s is newer than the D3x. Why do you consider the x as the flagship? As far as I can tell it only has the bigger sensor as the differentiator.

Looks like they went to the manufacturers websites and picked some models at random.

1. google "nikon flagship model" and see what happens
2. its the biggest/most expensive model in the Nikon catalogue which normally gives flagship status, no?

I think he means not necessarily the best.

That compares the D3 to the D3X, some interesting conclusions with samples.

Olympus' 'flagship' the E3 is not necessarily better than the cheaper E30, in fact in some ways its inferior, the only advantages are larger viewfinder and weatherproofing and magnesium body. But if you don't need to be able to dunk your camera in a lake just like you don't need the large resolution of the D3X, then they are only 'flagship' models in marketing speak.

Possibly. I have one camera on that list - the 3D one. It’s good for 3D images, but if you were to buy it for use as a regular camera, I’d say spend your money elsewhere. Images are a bit noisy and there is less by way of control over shutter and aperture.
