Yes but a good idea never dies no matter who rejects it.

Unless they automatically shifted all porn on .com domain names to .xxx, then there's no point. If porn is allowed to stay on .com then there's no point in doing this. I agree .xxx is a good idea, it'll make it much easier to block porn on family computers.

I actually think that the whole top level domain .com should be restricted to true multinationals with a high annual fee. Everyone else should be forced to a national domain. That will solve all the international disputes over trademarks. Then sex .com could be xxx.us or xxx.uk.

I agree with making all adult-only material available only on .xxx and making it more difficult to access for children. there needs to be a positive incentive for people to shift their pornography over. Carrot or stick, I'm not bothered.

I'm all for the xxx tld if it's unregulated, but I'm not for forcing all adult material over to it.

Who decides what is XXX and what is not? It's censorship by the back door.

Would Maxim be XXX ? How about Playboy? How about bogging sites that might occasionally link to XXX material? How about Google?

It would be a can of worms to say the least.

^^^Why not have the images hosted on a .xxx version of photobucket or similar. That way you could read maxim but the dirty images are blocked.

Every other country has a top level domain, the USA should too. If that already exists, they should scrap .com etc. Every address should have a country as a top level.

I don't agree with that.

Not every web site is affiliated with a geographical site, especially so with .org and .net. There is nothing inherently wrong with an organisation that is purely web based and treats sentient beings from any location equally.

Perhaps I misunderstand you?

It is barely used. I still think the TLD should be for big companies and organisations. It could get rid of the mass of domains to a national registrar and make ownership disputes easier and cheaper to resolve.
