Microsoft: it's the end of the line for Itanium support

Interesting to hear that HP use Itanium, do they use it on a lot of their server platforms?
Now that Red Hat has stopped support, I wonder if other Linux distros will follow suit. If they do HP could enjoy a time of being sole partners with Intel on the Itanium platform, potentially making HP-UX even more stable, etc.
