A friend of Jack Tweed has told a court how a woman who accused them both of rape "did not protest" as Mr Tweed had sex with her so he decided to join in.

Mr Tweed, 22, the widower of Big Brother contestant Jade Goody, denies twice raping the then 19-year-old woman at his Essex home on 4 September.

His friend, Anthony Davis, 26, of Chigwell, denies one charge of rape.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard Mr Davis told police the woman "didn't say anything" as he also joined in.

The jury were told the attack took place at Tweed's home in Repton Park, Woodford Green, where the woman had gone with her friends.

In an interview with Ilford police station on 5 September, Mr Davis described how he was in the bedroom when Mr Tweed started having sex with the woman.

Mr Davis told police he decided he "may as well close the door and see what happens".

'Didn't protest it'

The woman, who is now 20, told the jury she was "horrified" and went into "complete lockdown" when Mr Davis joined Mr Tweed on the bed and they both raped her together.

The court heard that in the police interview Mr Davis said he saw his friend having sex with the woman against a window and that "she didn't protest it".

"She didn't say 'stop'. She didn't say anything to suggest she didn't want it to happen," he added.

"She didn't say anything at all."

"I just got closer and closer. She didn't say anything."

He went on: "If a girl had been assaulted or raped, she would have come out of that room traumatised.

"She would have been screaming, surely someone would have heard something."

The jury was told how the woman went with three of her friends to Mr Tweed's house after a night out at the Embassy Club in Mayfair.

She initially tried to laugh it off when Mr Tweed began kissing her neck but he soon became "more heavy-handed", the court heard.

Prosecutors have previously said Mr Davis told Mr Tweed: "Don't worry Jack, I've got the door, do what you've got to do."

Mr Tweed married Big Brother star Jade Goody shortly before she died in March 2009.

The case continues.

It has all the hallmarks of someone claiming to be raped to cover up the fact of what they had done, that or for money either in compensation or newspaper story.
