Well TV is independent, and politically neutral, but the newspapers have not been.

Don't kid yourself.

Well both the main parties have complained about the BBC. The independent TV companies also have to comply with rules on political bias.

How appropriate. Though I thought he was a hand puppet and Murdochs hand was up his bum? ;)

even better; Sky News shows it's real level of 'independence' - what is wrong in this picture?

No, Cameron's out in front despite Clegg having the numbers :)

Clearly Sky News staff clearly do not understand maths or how to do graphs. Or the more sinister reason is that they are simply lying. With Murdoch I will accept that it is not an accident.

A similar issue came up last week after the debate.

On sky.com they had a huge title: 'Cameron wins election debate' then a following image of cameron on 53%. Yet then all the text referred to clegg having the best performance. The only things in favour of Cameron were the title and picture, both of which were unsubstanciated.

In the US Murdoch has never let facts get in the way of his presentation of his reality. I thought that the last debate was another winner for Clegg but Cameron and Brown were much closer so the differences were minimal, no way was it a clear winner for Cameron.

I suspect that Sky had to agree to make the debate freely available in order to be allowed to host it in the first place.

But anyone who can see BBC News can also see Sky 3 or Sky News, can't they? I know they can on Freeview and the cheapest/most basic Virgin package.

Yes indeed. But not everyone has Freeview so Sky would have had to agree to allow for the debate to be broadcast on analogue terrestrial (as it was on BBC 2 later in the evening) and as it happened on Radio 4 IIRC.
Sky News was indeed the logical place for Sky to broadcast the debate however if it had followed the same pattern as the BBC and ITV it would have broadcast the debate on Sky 1, its flagship channel, which would only have been available to Sky and Virgin subscribers. That would not have been acceptable as Sky 1 is not universally available without some sort of subscription which was the point I was trying to make.
