Good, the case alone stank, never mind what the papers took it on themselves to make up (and with the help of the police/spokespeople it often seemed)

The problem is that the press are inept. They fail to get sufficient proof, the police are complicit in many of these events. They made a numbers of unsubstantiated claims about the muslims who were raided and one of whom was shot. There was no child porn or any of the other things that the papers printed. These things will happen again and again until the press tighten up their reporting procedures, and no printing of anything if people are unwilling to stand by what is said and be named.

Unfortunately I don't think it's about procedures, as much as 'This'll sell, who cares if it's wank?'

I agree, but until they are financially crippled by a settlement they will carry on and treat it like an occupational hazard.
