 | | | | Quote: Sony Computer Entertainment Australia's managing director believes that Sony's previously perceived arrogance has been overtaken by another company that bears the name of a fruit. Just a clue; it's not Orange.
Sony's latest PlayStation advertisements, which employ charlatan spokesman Kevin Butler, poke fun at the company's corporate image. Sony has tried to right this perceived arrogance recently, replacing PS3 adverts of baby's crying with the 'It Only Does Everything' campaign in the US.
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia's managing director, Michael Ephraim, believes that this move has proved that there are other much more arrogant companies. Apple being one of them.
In an interview with the Brisbane Times, Ephraim replies to a question on Sony's perceived arrogance:
"I don't think we [Sony] are arrogant anymore. I think we can name a company that is a fruit that is in the news a lot about their arrogance. I think they have taken the mantle from us, if we were ever arrogant!
"I don't think we were arrogant. We know there are a lot of challenges in this space, but we're very comfortable, especially with 3D across the entire Sony group. There's no company that can deliver that like we can," Ephraim boasts in an arrogant fashion... | | | | |
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=247244The arrogance is still hanging out of Sony, but Jobs (rather than Apple itself) is a definite contender, there's no doubt

If arrogance is defined as being supremely confident that your company makes some awesome stuff that people want to buy, then I guess Jobs is arrogant.
Perhaps I miss the arrogance in Apple's advertising. I know I'm a Mac user, but I think I'm adult enough not to be completely besotted by all their stuff, and I am sure I'd spot arrogance if I saw it. *shrug*

Sony stopped being arrogant 'cos they suddenly realised they weren't making the best stuff anymore - Samsung make better TVs & monitors, Apple make better MP3 players etc.

I assumed it's more about these companies believing their own PR/sales crap...

I would have thought that Sony are still more arrogant. Apple gear is good but they will readily try and improve it all the time. That is not an arrogant action. Sony's actions over the Bluray vs HD DVD war were clearly arrogant, when they claimed that they had won the format war long before it was all settled, is clearly an arrogant action.

Is Stormfront an Apple subsidiary, or just a reseller? If the former, then it's definite arrogance that the Truro branch doesn't put prices on its products....

AFAIK just a reseller with a massively unfortunate name.

I agree with him. Apple are more arrogant than Sony.

Should we instigate a forum rule where Godwin's Law forces a thread to be locked?

I wasn't disputing it, was I? Apple is notoriously secretive about everything.
