I do know of them, not enough to know about band members tho. and they aren't that big in France. Well the Beatles and the Stones are but less known bands didn't become as mainstream.

Dio replaced Ozzy in Black Sabbath from the Mob Rules album IIRC, possibly the one before it

Download Festival Rename Second Stage In Honour Of Ronnie James Dio

Download are to honour the memory of Ronnie James Dio on the 30th anniversary of Donington by renaming their second stage the “Ronnie James Dio Stage”.

In a touching tribute, Download festival are to rename their Metal Hammer-sponsored second stage the “Ronnie James Dio stage” in honour of the legendary frontman who passed away yesterday.

In a statement on his Twitter, Download festival organizer Andy Copping has said: “The second stage at Download this year is to be renamed the Ronnie James Dio stage as a tribute to the great man with the incredible voice.”

In another formal tribute to a key player in the rock world, organisers have also announced that the Download Festival Main Stage will be called the MAURICE JONES STAGE, in tribute to the co-founder of the Monsters of Rock festivals at Donington Park who passed away last year. 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of rock and metal music at Donington, and therefore it is fitting that Maurice Jones’ legacy is honoured in this way.

Bands confirmed for this year’s Download festival thus far: AC/DC, Aerosmith, Rage Against The Machine, Them Crooked Vultures, Deftones, Stone Temple Pilots, Bullet For My Valentine, Stone Sour, Megadeth, Motorhead, Slash, HIM, Airbourne, Steel Panther, Billy Idol, Lamb Of God, Volbeat, Five Finger Death Punch and many, many more to still be announced.
