House prices rose again last month, chartered surveyors said today, but a boost to the supply of new homes coming up for sale following the Government's decision to abolish home information packs (Hips) could depress the market during the rest of the year.

So nothing to do with the possibility of an increase in capital gains tax then? ;)

I'll only care in just over four years when I renew my mortgage. Hopefully by then my Loan To Value ratio will allow me to get the best rate possible, but that'll only happen if house prices aren't any lower than they are now.
