It does come anywhere close to taking away such a huge discount. I would switch elsewhere after that.

This is what happens when you let humans use computers... You would? I'd take the discount and think myself lucky. They don't say how much it is, but I'd expect it to be £10 or more. The free delivery is worth a few bob too. As it happens, I've just placed my order with Asda. They're usually pretty good, and I had free delivery so it's cheaper and less hassle than going to the store. Shopping in your PJs with a cup of tea FTW

You wouldn't forgive Asda for human error? I think you'd run out of places to shop pretty quickly TBH.

To be honest I quite like ASDA, particularly some of their own brand stuff. Though since this did not happen to me. I would not kick up a fuss. I was discussing online shopping with a friend and it does make a lot of sense for many. No chance of over spending. You know what the the cost is as you go along. I generally have a rough idea in the supermarket but since I cannot do mental arithmetic any longer it is not always accurate, especially if I forget part way around what the tally is. Add in cost of petrol and it becomes less cost effective. If you get a lot you can get them to drop it in your kitchen, so no carrying. It makes a lot of sense. I just took advantage of Tesco's 1000 club card points if you are a new online customer and spend more than £50. Well worth the delivery for a large load. Plus a load more air miles for my next trek somewhere.

...and if they could promise me the same delivery girl every time, I'd order 10 times a week

Zappos handled that much better last month. They mistakenly set the prices of all shoes to $49 on their designer shoes discount website. It ran over night and they lost a couple of million on the deal, due to a keying error...
Their response? Mea Culpa, [LIFTED] happens, we will honour all orders. That got them a lot more goodwill and long term sales than turning round and telling their customers to go screw...

And that is what I would have expected ASDA to do. Others have done it in the past and it has not harmed their reputation.

But it would have cost a fair old amount of money! I know ASDA's big, so they could absorb it, but surely as long as they offer a reasonable and very generous discount to those affected as an alternative to the accidental discount it's reasonable? Noone really complained too much when Dabs cocked up the 550D kit prices.

Yes but Dabs are not part of a huge multinational and the biggest retailer in the world.

But it is still smaller than Walmart.
