Thank God!

Now I don't have to put up with that [LIFTED] on the TV at work in the canteen. Every time I try and change it to normal news (or anything for that matter) it's only 2 minutes before some scrote puts Sky Sports News back on.

Nooooo, they can't take it away! I'd never pay for it but for free it's handy.

Clearly a trend.

Quote:
News Corporation has been moving away from free content in its newspaper operations.

Readers of the online editions of its Times and Sunday Times newspapers will have to pay to view the websites from the end of this month.

How long before Sky News becomes pay only? Will anyone care?

Unlikely, probably another sodding auction channel!
(BTW: does anyone actually watch those, I have them all disabled on my TV?)

No. waste of bandwidth, frankly.

The story suggests it's to be replaced by Sky 3+1, i.e. a timeshifted copy of Sky 3. TBH I'd do away with all the '+1' channels on Freeview too - they again take up bandwidth that could be used for more useful programming. If you can't be arsed to watch a show when it's on (or record it on a PVR), that's your problem.

Sky 3+1, apparently.

There's never anything on Sky 3 (live), never mind repeated it an hour later!
It's about time Freeview got a complete overhaul IMHO and get rid of all these shopping channels and the like.

BTW: Anyone else noticed that Virgin 1+1 has now been disabled on Freeview in the last week or so.
Just says "Virgin 1+1 is no longer available" - I wonder if that's going to be replaced with anything good?

I wouldn't miss Sky News (I'd happily see it destroyed as part of the Murdoch empire), but it does get some good 'breaking news' and the occassional mad Yank or crime story :)

Sky 3+1, apparently.

Is that an improvement?
