True.

I just don't think broadband internet access should be considered a "right". There are good and bad things about living in any location. I think people who live in the sticks should live with the fact that one of the downsides of doing so is that communications aren't as good as they are in built up areas.

But why should they be? If you live in the country you have to put up with the smells and noises early in the morning. Communications are a man made industry and if a vast sparsely populated rural country like Finland can do it then why can't we?

Perhaps it's just me, but I would much rather wake up to sheep bleating and cocks crowing and even the smell of manure over the sound of EMS and the number 52 rumbling past and tainting the air with fumes.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Because they're more advanced and ahead of the game than we are. You have to remember that Nokia is one, if not the, biggest money spinners for Finland, as a nation they've been hugely communications-centric.

They've been ahead of the communications game as a country, along with a few others, for years now and they're currently on course to offer every home and business in Finland 100meg by 2015. That's no mean feat considering some people live in the ass end of nowhere.

That includes Santa. I met him. Many of the advances were encouraged by Santa's need for free porn sites for the main part of the year when he has time on his hands hiding from mosquitoes in the Arctic Circle.

Well that does not say much about Vodafone one of the worlds biggest mobile phone companies. ;)

I'm not arguing that, more that, well, Nokia is Finland. If you know what I mean.

Useless fact of the day; the Nokia company originally started out as a wellington boot manufacturer.

The emergency telephone number in the UK is 999. 112 also works, thanks to Nokia from Finland, and a little push from the EU.

Actually the original company produced paper, it later went on to produce wellies, amongst other things, under the Nokia name.

It started off in my GF's home town, Tampere.
