ISS to grow crystals

The ISS is planning to grow crystals in space that could make solar panels upto 60% more efficient than those using crystals grown on earth. clicky

They might be expensive though. I do like the idea of very efficient solar cells.

I read an article not long ago about a company trying to produce a paint that turns into a solar cell.

i.e. take a metal roof in Africa, paint it with this paint and then plug in your kettle.

They're currently arguing about whether it's possible to draw electricity directly from humid environments as well clicky
