The West doesn't get on with Burma of course, but all the more reason to let a 'democratic' election go ahead, and Burma's friendly with a lot of other big players anyway...

They probably only have China on their side because of the natural gas that they sell to China and the weapons that they buy from China. The regime know that they are unpopular so they have moved the capital away from the masses.
