I know a few people who did Foundation degrees for sciences and other art based subjects, but they all did it because they didn't really have enough points to get into uni, not because the course required a foundation degree...

But yes, if you went on a course to learn how to learn (as long as it wasn't run by some middle-aged someone who decided that it would be 'fun' to create slide shows and poster in Word), to learn how to sit through an hour of some stuffy old guy talking at you, then I think that would be an excellent idea.
