A PRIMARY school teacher took her own video recorder into class - and accidentally showed a PORN film to pupils.

The teacher planned to use her machine to show an educational programme to her class of ten-year-olds.

But when she turned it on, X-rated scenes on a tape left in the player flashed up.

The teacher at St Helen's Church of England School in Abbotsham, Devon, hurriedly turned it off.

But four children were exposed to "inappropriate material", Devon County Council admitted.

The teacher has been disciplined. Furious parents say they were not immediately told about the incident two weeks ago.

One mum said: "We are absolutely shocked and disgusted to hear about this. We are swaying from anger to outrage and embarrassment.

"We feel parents should have been told a lot sooner. Now it feels as though the school were trying to keep it quiet."

The council said: "A member of staff has been disciplined.

"Parents of the children have been kept fully informed of the school's actions agreed by the headteacher and the chair of governors."
