Italy's prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is being investigated over claims he paid to have sex with an underage prostitute.

Didn't he try to pass a law so he couldn't be prosecuted for all the dodgy stuff he's done?

In Italy, much like many other places, if you have money and influence you can do what the hell you like. He's very rich and he's got lots of friends. I wouldn't expect this to go anywhere. And even if it did look like it was going to, the Italian legal system is famously slow and labyrinthine. His lawyers could easily keep the case open for years before it even got to court.

There are a number of countries that grant immunity from prosecution for the heads of state. So it explains why he will not resign. Also with how many prostitutes now hold positions of power like Justice minister? ;)
