Yep. It is what it is, Paul.
I guess we wait and see if he gets another gig like that.
I do hope so.

Me too. Mainly because it means he'll stay in America, and his scrofulous brand of non-comedy will therefore be far from my screen.

Oooo - good word.

I totally agree. For instance, there was an outcry when Chris Rock presented the 2005 Oscars and behaved exactly as he normally does; you have to book someone in light of how they normally act on stage. I'm not sure Gervais was wrong in this particular instance and if you book a particular presenter, you're also booking their views, prejudices and ways of offending people.

However, thinking about it, I sure as hell don't want him back - IMO the best thing Gervais ever did was leave.

Long may he continue to offend the Americans (and stay over there) ;)

Well, I love his comedy, though I expect on a personal level he's probably a [LIFTED]. He should stop with the films though.

“We loved the show. It was a lot of fun and obviously has a lot of people talking. When you hire a comedian like Ricky Gervais, one expects in your face, sometimes outrageous material. Certainly, in this case, he pushed the envelope and occasionally went too far. The HFPA would never condone some of his personal remarks. Overall, however, the show was among the best we’ve ever had and we were pleased.”

Well it looks like some have realised the publicity was very good and so he might be back next year.

Yes they just confirmed that they have asked him. The ratings were up and the extra publicity was perfect.

IMO Ricky Gervais is the worst actor in the world. He plays exactly the same character in every thing he does.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.
