Why would you want to sync with itunes?
Mac users will buy an iphone & PC users don't like itunes (it's too buggy on the PC) and corporate users can't use itunes on their work machines

Huh? Is this true? Is it a licensing thing similar to Google Earth? If this is true then our IT Code of Practise needs revising.

Surely the best answer is "don't buy proprietary [LIFTED] that only works with specified software"? My MP4 player does not require special software to copy songs to/from the device, and that's one of the key reasons I'd never buy a doompod.

Nobody mentioned the legal implications of copying music onto a works machine...
Or that, if the software is banned by policy, it is probably a disciplinary offence to try and install it.
That said, I am using iTunes on my home Vista machine and work XP machine (I am allowed to install it, but I am not allowed to copy any music to the machine, I use it for podcasts) and it is fine. Over the last couple of versions it has been pretty stable.

1. I quite like iTunes on my PC. Seems to work ok.
2. I though Google Earth was ok to use in an organisation as long as you're not using it for gains or preproducing the images, etc.

It's usually due to internal policies. We lock down machines for customers to: a) stop them installing programs b) stop them filling the file servers & backups with their music Having music on a file server poses quite a few copyright issues

Ah, that's ok then At work we allow iTunes on work laptops but we don't then back up any music stuff. In fact the only "back ups" we have is a back up of stuff stored on the server. People have to put files onto their "H Drive" in order for it to be backed up.

I have not used iTunes on the PC, but is this not what all the iPod users use? Is there a better media player for syncing mp3s, mp4s, audiobooks and podcasts with an iPod? CCp.s. Genuine question, I just don't know how iPods work on the PC.

Media Monkey is much better than itunes on the PC. I really don't know why apple made the pc version of itunes such a dog.

For the same reason MS couldn't get WMP right on the Mac, I suppose.
