I can't imagine it will (apples and oranges), though I'll be surprised if Sony can actually sell it, in every sense of the word, to the mainstream. I'd guess that on previous form they won't advertise it enough, and the majority of games are gonna be download only apparently, which won't help in the slightest...

It is a niche product. I am sure that it will sell but not in great numbers. As the article suggests there is a lot of competition from cheap apps on smart-phones, and the iPad. I am excluding other tablets as they have an insignificant share of the market. It's only real direct competition is the DS but that is struggling so I agree it is too late, and probably over priced.
