It's not a win for anyone. Let's be honest, anyone who thinks governments can't monitor their communications should they wish to is being utterly naive. Running a particular OS on your phone won't make any difference. The fact is, for the vast majority, they don't because there's no reason to. Paranoid conspiracy theories aside, there are enough genuinely nasty people in the world to keep the security services busy from now until doomsday, so why would they bother routinely surveilling everyone else?
