Motorola has won a permanent injunction in Germany against push email services in Apple’s iCloud and MobileMe. When Motorola enforces the judgement, Apple will have to remove push email from the iPhone and iPad in Germany.

You have to wonder if, eventually, consumers will sue either Apple or Motorola for hobbling their devices. It seems that these inter-company bickering do the user no favours at all.

+1. I've actually always assumed that eventually something will come along that the public will prefer that neither of them can sue. Then they'll have to figure out how to beat that by making a better product. Good luck with that in some cases.

Let get a judge to ban almost everything on every phone. Then they can force each other to cross license everything so everyone can have what they want.

As if it would ever happen.

The problem is, they won't be able to use GPRS, UMTS, HDSPA, LTE or WiMax, they will have to come up with a 100% new technology, which doesn't rely on any of the same techniques as the existing methods of wireless communication.

Once they have that sorted, they will have to come up with a totally new method of encoding voice digitally.

Then a way of transferring data between a handset and a basestation, which isn't already patented...

And we haven't even got to the point, where they can make an operating system! Making an OS that is unencumbered, today, is nearly impossible.
