It probably shows my age, but I had a real plate at school. Well it may have been made from melamine, but you get the idea.

I had a tray with three plates for starter-main-dessert. Now they colour code the different options with red, green and orange rings on the plates for level of un-healthiness.

Typical meal at my school would have been
pate and cornichon or celeriac remoulade or egg mayo
chicken leg with green bean and rice or chips
cheese

yogurt/ fruit/tart.
