Why?

I was going to ask that too. When it comes to children we'll do anything to protect them. I don't see it as a green light for it to be OK to kill anyone. Every case should be judged individually. People have been put in jail for killing burglars which i don't think is right.

Just this morning I read an Indian man decapitated his own daiughter for bringing a bad name to his family and also in the news this week a mother who killer her own children in a Spanish hotel room.

Humans are animals. A father protecting his child is quite a normal thing compared to some of the things we're capable of.

He shouldn't have to choose between protecting his daughter and going to jail.
You can argue about "oh he should have just restraained him" all you like, but the father could have been overpowered/injured/killed himself if he's just tried that.
If I found someone doing that to my son, I'd loose my rag and go ape on the [LIFTED] too. It would be an instinctive and natural reaction.

Yeah, which is understandable, I suppose. A moment of violence triggered by the danger posed to a loved one. We've all felt it, I'm sure.
Still makes you a killer. People who, in a fit of rage, have killed another person are generally thought of not being safe to walk about freely in society.
Or are we saying that it's cool to kill people but only if you're, like, really cross about something?
Hang on, what am I saying? This is Texas we're talking about. Where they still think execution is a good thing.
George W. Bush country. Where people can be misunderestimated.
Now I understand it.
I'm a little amazed he wasn't awarded a hand gun, a blowjob and told not to come into work the next day.

Wasn't there a bloke who killed a burglar fairly recently who was arrested and initially charged, but not prosecuted?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

This story.

That can't be the story he meant. Zimmerman was initially not arrested, the dead kid was not a burglar, and Zimmerman is now being prosecuted.

No, not that one. That one is outrageous! (He should have been arrested on the spot.)
I meant a story here in the UK (a few months ago).
