From the article: If that's what he's earning a month, is it any wonder they're in dire straits?

Holy Schmoly. Do we think he's doing a great job and earning every penny? I don't know anything about the guy. Perhaps it's only through his genius that BA are still going at all. I know you all can maths, but just to rub it in... That's knocking a million pounds a year, like winning the pools every Christmas! Many folk won't earn his annual salary in a whole life time. They could pay an extra 30 staff £20kpa if he "only" earned the same as an MP. If he does about 8 hours of work a week (optimistic?), then he gets paid more per hour than I earn in a month. He could retire comfortably after one or two years, rather than 50 years like everyone else

That explains why they want €1,500 to fly hop from north Germany to London...

Jesus nora.
Yeah it's okay kids, you have to wear the same nappy for a month, and eat grass from the garden. I'll take you to the farm to show you how the cows do it.
You'll have to start playing with an abacus too, either that or learn to spell in scrabble. We'll have no electricity.
I highly advise you to grow some fur too. You'll thank me at the end of the month.

Ok so he is being paid £732,000 a year. So even after tax etc etc etc, he must be making well over half a million every single year. And that is not even taking into account bonuses. Now, take into account that that money will be itself making money (albeit in this climate not much) and more than likely he will be able to live off the interest alone for a month. That fat gilt-adorned business tosser won't take a single hit over that month without pay whilst living the same life of luxury he always does, whilst the poor underpaid workers squeezed for every penny just so he can remain in luxury as he ruins the company are basically forced to live in poverty for a month because if they don't they face having no job at all. It is absolutely abhorrent.

My back of an envelope maths put it at about £439,200. Still better than a poke in the eye with a rusty nail.

For that, I’d work for a year and figure out how to retire very, very early.
