Unless they've pulled the Grindr app as well then Apple are doing an interesting new line in double standards again.

Yes it could be wobbly moral standards. I agree it is double standards.

I'm not sure 'double standards' is quite the correct term - Apple have (very prudish and fairly arbitrary) moral line and if you cross it they pull your app. That's always been what they've done, so their actions are somewhat consistent. The problem is the line you can't cross seems to be somewhat mobile. That's an issue, but it's not a double standard as such.

They're being stupid and prudish and messing about, but I just don't think it's the right term to use for it.

Unless I missed something, BWF and Grindr bother essentialy allow an individual to cruise for sex using an iDevice of some sort.
If Apple are going ban BWF then not banning Grindr is, in my opinion, a double standard. If they're tollerating gay people cruising using their iPhones then why not straight people?

I suspect that they haven't banned Grindr becuase, having gotten through the net already, any attempt to ban it now would raise some fairly vocal accusations of homophobia whereas BWF isn't targeting any specific group (other than people who want to use their phones to hook up with people).

As far as I can tell, the difference is about how blatant they are about it. Grindr pretty much is about sex (apparently, I mean really I don't run it so...) but it doesn't actually say so, it just bills itself as a social app. You really can't claim 'bang with friends' is about anything other than sex. It seems to me Apple are willing to look the other way if you play the game but will stamp on you if you pop your head above the parapet (blimey, that's a mixed metaphor..)

Plus Tim Cook is gay. ;) Though I doubt that had anything to do with the decision.
