It costs billions apparently, but we're gonna fudge it by crowing about the minority who don't really need it. We might even bring in a system that costs more than it saves!

What is a wealthy person?
The French president, a few years back, said that the threshold was 4k/ month before tax (50k per year).
If they remove benefits fr all but the very poor, nobody will want to pay tax anymore :S

I'd say a wealthy person is one who has some money left at the end of the month.

I do not agree. It is a minuscule amount for the rich so the paperwork to strip people of it would make the savings minuscule as well. It would be better to cap all the tax allowances the someone could benefit from, rather than allow someone with a £3 million income be able to use so many allowances that they pay no tax. It would be better to allow all taxes to have an upper limit like ISA's.

Really? Most people could have money left over at the end of the month if they were careful.
I think someone is wealthy if they don't worry about money everyday.

Better. Can we say a wealthy person is someone who doesn't have to be careful about money? i.e. someone who always has the money to buy or do whatever they want to do?
