Complete waste of money - especially when we're constantly being told we have no spare money.

Typical of the government though - who will plough on regardless rather than loose face and cancel it.

We need more capacity on commuter trains, not some white elephant.

No money unless they want to spend it.

Add to this pot of wasted money the £20 - £25 billion that is the projected cost of replacing Trident. No fricking wonder this country is bankrupt.

Just get on with it and build something.
It's important that we do something, build something, because nobody else in the country seems to be.
You might call it a complete waste of money, but I'd imagine if it's going to pay your wage and mortgage you might feel differently about it.

Well I am all in favour. And it will get some trains off the main routes so freeing up for room for more commuter rail

Personally I think they should do HS all the way to Scotland and all the way to Wales and the West Country with dedicated lines

It would increase capacity, reduce journey times and be a legacy that would last decades

Indeed. Its short term thinking that provenly has failed so far. The best time to invest in the future is always now.

True but that does not help politicians with an outlook than only stretches to the next election.
