I don't remember ever denying the fact.
It's exactly because he was only a kid. He may have knew he was doing something wrong, but there's a reason we don't allow children to vote, or drive cars, or drink alcohol or any number of other things. It's because we don't believe kids understand the full consequences of their actions. That's exactly what makes them kids.
