Well it will be used by the Daily Mail as proof that gays are all evil.

Adopted Boy Sexually Abused By Fathers would be more apt.
There's no known connection between homosexuality and Paedophilia.

And in any case, isn't the 'gay' part implicit anyway?

I think the church has loads of gay and paedophiles not necessarily the same people.

Really?
I think there'd be a lot fewer abuses cases in the church if priests were allowed to have a family. People have been campaigning for this for years.

secondly, there are no links between paedophilia and homosexuality. The fact that it evens cross some people's mind here is very saddening.

I'm using Ireland as a specific example, there's been any number of cases where it was young men but still illegal. Google 'vatican gay lobby' to see some of the allegations there of just how far the gay/paedo thing goes.

I should point out I don't believe in the link in general, just around what you've mentioned in the church, a conflagration of the overall situation there.

Yes but there will always be a few rotten apples in a barrel when you consider how many people there are in Catholic church. It is a matter of statistics. It would not surprise me that there are a few in the police, army and post office purely because they have so many employees.

Yeah, of course, but those organisations' bosses weren't in charge of the world's largest known paedo ring. It was covered up at every level, even in some cases by the parents of the victims! If that's God's work, I take issue with it

Yes you are right I think that the culture of cover up was rife, but it does not mean that they were involved. It is very similar to what the CQC did to cover up what happened in the hospitals. As for the parents, they were probably very religious and would her nothing against the priests. Look at how long it has taken to get a divorce in Ireland because so many would listen to what the church said prior to any referendums.

There may be no causal link between homosexuality and underaged sex in general, but as you say the church is a special case. You need to remember the reason some of these men joined the priesthood in the first place, declaring celibacy while suppressing their desires.

Long and controversial article here: http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfa ... hilia.html
