Facebook are removing the privacy setting around timelines. Previously you could hide your time line from strangers, the setting was removed from the control panel last year, but those that had it set could still enjoy their privacy, but those users are now also having their anonymity removed, your timeline will be searchable by everybody, according to the article.

As I deleted my account before timelines were introduced, I'm not sure how that works, but it makes me glad I deleted my account. It is funny, I was feeling tempted to open a new account last week, just to see what it is like now, now they show me why I deleted my account.

So if you've got all your security options set to 'friends only' or 'friends of friends only', what happens?
Can people find you on the search no matter what, but not see your wall? If so you should be able to change your profile picture to something other than you and peopwl wouldn't be able to find you. There must be quite a few Andrew Levick's on facebook.

Like me, you'll find there is no "delete". I wanted to start a new account for business purposes, and found my supposedly deleted account still sitting there, just as I left it a couple of years before, just waiting for me to wander back into Royston Vasey.

They can search for you on your timeline, anything on the timeline seems to be visible, but wall stuff still has the settings you give it.

It means that people can find you through your timeline, but they can't see everything you've written, if you have set it to be only visible to specific groups.

At least that is how I read it, not having a Facebook account.

I deleted all posts and all photos and unfriended everybody before I used the "delete account" option.

Interestingly he has leased the houses back to the original owners so they do not even have to move.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ViZRfLo78HE#t=1222 might be worth a look - especially the piece at the end talking about Zuckerburgs glass office.

By "delete" I expect you mean "kind of remove it, but it's still there". You'll still be tagged in photos that others have uploaded, and as I understand it to completely remove your account you need to jump through a few more hoops.

I did jumps through all the hoops. I expect the stuff is still on the servers somewhere, but there should be no possible public links to anything I put on Facebook.
