French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has summoned the US ambassador over newspaper claims that the US spied on millions of phone calls in France.
France has labelled such activity between allies as "unacceptable".

BBC Clicky

It's the scale of it now though - you are literally spying on an entire country, short of people who live in a shack or something.

Spying is supposed to be covert. Now it’s akin to lifting skirts on the Underground during rush hour.

This is why it is so extreme. With the possible exception of Bratty who is really of any threat to anyone? Bratty is more of a threat to himself than a government.
