Android is a hit, that is why Lenovo and Hawaii sprung into the top 4 mobile phone manufacturers.

While Android is dominating sales right now, will that continue with the NSA fallout. They might re-engineer it for security. Or come out with a Chinese version.

Android is open source and they can recompile their own version, so they know only the Chinese backdoors are built in and nobody is forcing them to use Google's services.

With all due respect, this is completely technically wrong. You cannot just take the android source code, recompile it and drop it onto a some random phone hardware and see it work.

Isn't that exactly what Cyanogen and dozens of other projects do? My phone is running the Cyanogen 10.2 ROM, which is their recompilation of Android 4.3 plus the relevant drivers. If they can do that without the manufacturer's help, I'm sure the manufacturers can do it for their own devices.
